Week 08 -- Ads and Ad Groups

As I was reading through this week's reading I remember a time that I was standing in Deseret Book looking for something, anything to speak peace to my heart.  I had just made an agonizing decision that certainly created giant mountains I needed to climb.  I couldn't find anything discussing divorce within an LDS marriage.  Nothing.  I felt absolutely crushed.  When I opened my mind a little I found and have since cherished Finding Happiness, Peace, and Joy.  I have cried my way through that book more times than I can count anymore.  My keyword of divorce was too narrow and I couldn't find what I needed.  When I broadened my keyword to include peace I found exactly what I needed--well, the Spirit found it and I just followed.  Had I found a book discussing divorce I would have never learned the bigger skill set I gained through Finding Happiness, Peace, and Joy.

I hope that I am able to find the right combination of keywords to guide potential clients to me.

Week 10 --ROI and Optimizing

I won't lie, this week has been a struggle.  I couldn't get the snippet code on a single page instead of the entire site, I was trying to clean up my Google Ads because it was the digital version of when I stuff everything into a closet.  I had made several different ads/campaigns/ad groups etc when we first started that it was just a hot mess at it's best.  In deleting the extra ads I also deleted the ads I wanted to keep.  I was frustrated.  Cleaning up my Google Ads account was very helpful and I started thing about it as a whole, not separate parts (keyword planner, ads, etc).  I started this week just walking through steps not really knowing why or what it was doing and by the end of the week parts of it has started to make sense, enough for me to be able to work through things, not just follow a list of steps and not know what to do when something goes wrong.  Line upon line.

Week 05 -- Site Design

I'm loving that we are through with case studies.  I know I learned things through those weeks but case studies aren't my favorite when compared to practical applications.  Creating the buttons and choices with PayPal was exciting.  Of all the times I've played with websites and self taught web design it has been a lot more disjointed.  I would want to do something specific and I'd search how to do it then spend days and hours trying to make it work.  Definitely not effective or even in an organized manner. Then technology came faster than I was able to keep up and I got lost as CSS came around and web design changed while I was busy taking kids to school, softball practice, and through beginning band instruments.  When life leveled out I didn't even know where to begin creating a web site and my self-taught via google method was even less effective because I often didn't even know the name for what I was trying to do.  Building on that small amount of knowled

Week 06 Legal Structure and Licensing & Taxes

When I've looked into the business side of photography thinking of licensing, taxes, and insurance are the hurdle that ends up stalling me.  It is both interesting and motivating to be guided through the processes with the tools and information needed to not get overwhelmed and stalled.  Photography is my passion, and this part of starting a business has always been just a way to get to where I need to be and with my lack of knowledge, it was frustrating and difficult.  I have enjoyed learning about various legal structures and what kinds of professions require licensing specific to the profession.  Who would have ever thought that animal massage was a thing?  Or that being an auctioneer required licensing?  What for besides being able to talk fast?  Obviously, there are aspects to various businesses I know nothing about and this has been an informative week. Also slightly overwhelming working on Project 2 because of perfectionism, but I'm letting that go.
